After so many months, at last I can bring a new entry to this blog.
Here's the hymn of the Meerkats, such as I imagined it. They song through this verses about things of long ago, but not for that lost in memory.
The music is exactly like in "The village of dwarves".
If we look behind a million stories
and far beyond the tide of countless years...
We'll find the Firsts of our Kin.
Royal consorts, Lady and King,
who then gave birth to the firstborns
in our Meerkats Hometown.
The Sun, those times, was like a daily blessing
and every night a haven full of peace.
We had an endless Spring
and the cold rain would only bring
a gift of hope and renewal,
in our Meerkats Hometown.
The Eagles used to carry happy Meerkats
and give them all an hour ride each day.
We always allowed Snakes
in the Burrows to sleep and stay
with newborns cuddling to them
in our Meerkats Hometown.
Many of us would watch the stars delighted,
like trying to read a book in each of them.
The Constellations up there
always watching over our dreams,
were prized above any treasure
in our Meerkats Hometown.
And now, of course, we must get to the story
of those who built the first 'Kat family.
The elder Lord and his wife
have become a legend in life,
and now we'll never forget them
in our Meerkats Hometown.
Those unforgettable times
can be felt right under our feet,
while shining inside our hearts
like the morning light.

"Remembered Ones"
Shakespeare, son of Flower and Zaphod, was born on November 8, 2002, along with Mozart, Einstein and Freud; all of the Whiskers family.
I made very few entries dedicated to Shakespeare and, however, he was one of the most faithful Meerkats in when the Mob needed him.
In his first year (March 18, 2003), he lost one of his brothers, Freud.
But Shakespeare lived enough to take care of many young Meerkats; the long list included Monkulus, Armantia Ditch, Zarathustra, Mitch, Cruise and Jogu.
One day an enemy group attacked the Whiskers and took the little Mitch to leave him in the open, but soon it was Shakespeare who found and took him back to the security of their burrow.
On November 23, 2004, he was one of the brave Meerkats who cornered a Puff Adder Snake... Being bitten in face and leg. But some days later he was recovered from the venom and ready to continue his babysitting of newborns.
When Flower gave birth to Petra, Macchu Pichu, Ningaloo and Popkat, he was there to take care of the babies every time their mother was out to forage.
Staying always with Flower and Zaphod, Shakespeare kept doing his main job, and when some Meerkats of her group rejoined the Whiskers -Flower giving birth to Flo, Kim and Finn-, he babysat them as well.
But one day the Lazuli attacked their burrow; Shakespeare first protected the young Meerkats. After the Whiskers chased the enemies away, he disappeared and left his life on March 11, 2005.
Here are three pictures brought to remember him better, especially with the third.

"Another Legend About Meerkats"
This tale starts a few centuries after the Gods created every living being and Wele, for his part, the first Meerkats.
In a deep part of the Kalahari, not very far from a river, there lives a group of Bushmen composed of eleven families. Many of them recollect fruits, water and plants, while the others guard their cattle.
But soon they find out how hard it's to protect their priceless livestock.
Every two or three days, Jackals come and kill a Goat. And sometimes, about thirty minutes after a mysterious hissing noise, one of the Goats falls heavily to the ground, dying a few moments later.
Such situation goes on for three months; however, the Bushmen know how hard would be finding a better place to settle in.
But when one of their children dies because of a Cape Cobra, the time comes to find some solution.
Oree-Khwe, their Chief, knows many places, but some of them would take at least one day of march,
And several people, who had been praying, bring to all the same (osada) question: "Why would the Gods create creatures that could kill them and their Goats?"
To this, not even Oree-Khwe has any answer, but if all they can do is keep praying, they will.
Less than two months later, the Bushmen loose seven Goats hunted by Jackals and two more bitten by Cape Cobras; their desperate beggings seem completely ignored by the Gods. And Oree-Khwe finally goes right after sunrise in search of another place to live. He will be out there for many hours.
Suddenly, a young shepherd sees something wonderful: a group of small creatures seem to fight with a Snake, But they don't attack the Cape Cobra; they simply push her away, forcing her to go in one direction. When she leaves, the Shepherd goes to tell his people about it as soon as he can.
Now they start to feel that their prayers have been heard after all.
When their Chief returns having chosen a new place for them all, the Bushmen tell him what Kusi has witnessed. Then Oree-Khwe and the others start to watch closely how Meerkats behave in front of any danger and soon they learn new ways to defend the lives of themselves along with their livestock's.
The next morning, very early, everyone goes to see the Meerkats seemingly watching the rising Sun; Then some new chants are made thanking their Gods, but also to those creatures who taught them so much. Since that day, they call them "Jua Malaika" * (Angels of the Sun), the protectors against all evil creatures which from now on will harm their livestock no more.
*(This is Swahili -literally "Sun Angel"-, but I'm not sure to find these words in the language of Bushmen).

"Meerkats Go To The Far West"
Being born in a miniature old Wild West town – perhaps this nameless baby Meerkat should be called ‘Billy the Kid’.
But the tiny critter is no ‘lone ranger’ – being one of triplets recently born at the Parrot Zoo in Friskney.
“We built a western-style town for the Meerkats which started off with just a saloon bar,” said zoo owner Steve Nichols. “But it now has a bank, jail, sheriff’s office, general stores, a church and graveyard complete with tombstones.
“It opened in September and we let them go in as an experiment at first but we could soon see they were hanging out and congregating around the church.”
And it was some time later inside this miniature church that a female Meerkat
gave birth to the triplets. Their parents were both rescued by the zoo.
The three lively babies are yet to be named – but staff at the zoo are inviting suggestions from visitors.
“Because they were born in the church we have had a lot of biblical names suggested,” said Steve.
This is the second time they have given birth at the Parrot Zoo and its Meerkat enclosure is now one of the largest in the UK, measuring 120 ft by 40 ft.
Steve added: “The meerkats are by far the most popular attraction - we’ve got more than 2,000 parrots, lemurs, reptiles and other mammals, but when people see the Meerkats they just turn to jelly.”

"The Dog Who Adopted A Kat"
A baby Meerkat which was expected to die after being abandoned is now being
reared by an unusual adoptive mother - a pet Chihuahua .
Tiny Wilson
was born on January 20 - but was immediately shunned by his real mother as the
runt of the litter.
Dennis Drew, 30, owner of Mablethorpe Seal and animal Sanctuary, in Lincolnshire had the idea
of introducing him to his colleague's pet Chihuahua Kimi - who was going
through a phantom pregnancy at the time. She has reared him as her own ever
since.
He introduced Wilson to the Dog - who was lactating as part
of her phantom pregnancy - and was amazed when the Meerkat fed from her.
After nearly two months together, the pair have forged an inseparable bond.
Wilson now
follows 18 month-old Kimi around wherever she goes, hitches a ride on her back
- and the cute pair can often be seen curled up in a Dog basket together.
'He took to the milk and within a few days Kimi had literally taken over as mother. He started to become bigger and stronger and now he is doing fantastic. The two are pretty much inseparable now andWilson follows Kimi wherever she goes and they curl up in the basket together.
'He took to the milk and within a few days Kimi had literally taken over as mother. He started to become bigger and stronger and now he is doing fantastic. The two are pretty much inseparable now and
'Kimi even gets very protective and will growl if anybody goes near Wilson - I have worked
with animals for over five years and I have never seen anything like this
before.'
He said the Meerkat is on solids now and that he was looking to reintroduce
Wilson back to
the family who rejected him.
Ms Clark said Wilson
had even begun to show signs of acting like a dog. 'He craves human attention
and will sit on the sofa for a stroke and watch TV,' she said.
'It's something you wouldn't be able to do with any other Meerkats at the
sanctuary. When the doorbell goes and Kimi barks at the door - he will sit
in front of her and do the same.
'I'm really going to miss him when he gets reintroduced to the other Meerkats
because he feels part of the family now.'

"Very Special - Valentines Day"
Hear the soft voice of your heart this day
and you will feel surrounded by love bells...
Put in yourself a necklace of flowers,
picture yourself with a beautiful dress...
Yellow or white, or maybe of Springtime.
Voices go singing all around the World...
And as they try to reach every heart
like Hummingbirds do when looking for nectar,
eternal old dreams of love come to life...
Never ending since then, making us smile.
The Meerkats in love hunt will never waste time
in finding their twin soul and then sing this song...
"Nothing on Earth now can tear us apart...
Endings can be only to a new beginning,
for our spirits will watch the Sun rise every morning".
On the clouds, only the lovers see always
Roses at dawn and Violets at sunset...
Many a Meerkat gather to enjoy
endless love dances, newborn romances,
eternal bonds or love at first sight.
Rise with the Sun, in the arms of your sweetheart,
King, Queen or Princess, with full right to love...
And raise your hand only with a present
to make your love dream shine in big smiles...
Smiles for a moment, joy for each day.

"Garden For Just One Flower"
There was a strange planet
ten million stars away,
in which Meerkats were always
very happy and free.
It had mostly deserts
to play, and sleep, and thrive in;
but even more than that,
they had a true Queen.
And she was so famous
among her old people,
that no one ruled better
In their desert planet...
Only the Big Flower:
Queen who came from Heaven.

Special - "Manor Meerketplace"
It's another normal day
in the Manor Meerketplace...
The Chocolate-Covered-Scorpions
are ready to be enjoyed.
Flower's tent is full of bugs...
Crunchy Scarabs, juicy worms.
For everyone in the desert
knows that all she makes is good.
Over there, of course, is Zaphod
with his new Obedience School;
on the other hand, Youssarian
selling Beetles warm or cool.
Needless to ask about Mozart...
There's no nursery like hers;
and all in the Kalahari
will take their children to her.
If you want to look much prettier
-and make boys go crazy as well-,
visit Tosca's Grooming Parlour,
you'll be soon the fairest girl.
Now if you just need protection
or maybe a good advice,
an expert is always waiting
right there, in the tent of Mitch.
You'll always spend happy days
in the Manor Meerketplace...
And whatever you may need
a smile will shine in your face.

Very Special - "Their Only Place To Live In"
Meerkat misery: Thanks to that TV ad, they're now a must-have pet... But behind the cute image lies shocking cruelty - By Laura Powell, May 2010
Right at the back of the pet shop, between the cages of Mice, sacks of puppy feed and swarms of goldfish at £2.50 a pop, a little animal no more than eight inches tall is running up and down a poky mesh cage.
Simples, a one-year-old Meerkat, is on sale for £900, making him quite a money-spinner for the store. Despite his high value, however, he looks anything but happy.
His cage at Planet Pets in Radcliffe, north Manchester, is just 5ft by 2ft ('not good enough', according to the RSPCA) and he is kept in it alone, despite the fact that wild meerkats live in groups of ten to 30.
The animals are also hardwired to spend their days digging tunnels, but Simples has only a shallow layer of wood chips to play with.
And he's far from the only Meerkat living in these kind of conditions, because they are big business - selling at pet shops up and down the country for as much as £1,500 each.
The animals, which are native to Botswana, were originally bought from zoos by experienced breeders, but they are now in such high demand that amateurs are cashing in on the trend.
Why are they so popular? The clue is in Simples' name - it's the catchphrase of 'Aleksandr Orlov', the meerkat star of adverts for price comparison site comparethemarket.com.
This oddly compelling creation -a smoking, jacket-wearing puppet with a Russian accent- has more than 720,000 friends on Facebook and the advert has been watched more than 400,000 times on Youtube.
Some of these fans have decided to take their enthusiasm for Aleksandr Orlov to the next level by buying a meerkat - even though the RSPCA says the creatures are wholly unsuited to being kept as domestic pets.
The majority are prised from their litter-mates and parents and kept on their own, which can cause huge psychological trauma.
That ranges 'from self-harm to hair-pulling, pacing up and down and, in severe cases, chewing off their own hands', says the RSPCA's scientific officer Ros Clubb.
Then there are the injuries that 'tame' hand-reared meerkats can inflict on their owners.
They have centimetre-long canine teeth, which feel 'like someone sticking a penknife into you - very painful', according to meerkat expert Professor Tim Cluttonbrock, of the University of Cambridge, who has fallen foul of the creatures' gnashers.
Worse still, if you let them run loose indoors 'your carpets will be ripped up, any wires chewed through and if the Meerkat hasn't electrocuted itself, it'll certainly have ransacked the house', says Craig Redmond of the Captive Animals' Protection Society.
Unfortunately, none of this is stopping some pet shops and breeders from selling the animals - and neither is the law.
If the meerkat trend continues, says Craig Redmond, then many owners will tire of the animals long before the end of their ten to 12-year lifespan.
Huge numbers will be released into the wild (where 'they do not stand a chance') or will be put down.
But buyers are often told none of this by sellers keen to make a lucrative sale. even Planet Pets' manager Gareth admits the £900 price tag is steep - that's why the animals are sold individually.
Isn't keeping a meerkat on its own a bit cruel, I ask? 'No, it's not cruel to keep them on their own at all', he says. 'You can stroke it and have it on your lap and everything'.
Another pet shop owner I speak to doesn't have any in stock but 'can get his hands on them' for me at around £800 each.
Adam, of The Ark in Carlisle, even goes as far as telling me: 'They're much more interesting if you've just got the one'.
He doesn't mention that isolating Meerkats in captivity can cause them serious psychological damage.
'Meerkats are highly sociable animals, they need to be kept in groups and are probably rather unhappy alone', says Professor Cluttonbrock.
Last year, the Captive Animals' Protection Society secretly monitored meerkat sales during a six-month study. It found that the majority are sold individually and buyers are given insufficient advice and help.
'If the Meerkat is kept in a tiny cage in the shop, the buyer thinks that's how it can live all its life.
'They don't realise Meerkats spend most of their days burrowing and digging and need fresh air, company and space', says Redmond. even the most conscientious seller I spoke to, New World exotics of Beeston, Nottingham, (they ask would-be owners to fill out an application form and question buyers to find out if they're suitable) said: 'You can keep them indoors but they have to have free rein'.
But Redmond argues: 'It is outrageous to give a Meerkat a free run inside, especially if you are out of the house. The damage they can cause is catastrophic as they're natural diggers'.
None of that is mentioned by breeder Andy from Wigan, who is advertising three male pups on preloved.co.uk for £600 a piece.
Posing as a potential buyer, I tell him I work all day and wonder if that might cause a problem.
He answers: 'It could be'. But he quickly adds: 'The way around it is to give it a cuddly toy or something with your scent on it and it'll cuddle up to "you".
'They're similar to a cat really. They're happy to live in the house and are quite inquisitive... I take mine for a walk on a lead and they're local celebrities'.
Astonishingly, he even tells me I needn't necessarily feed my meerkat chicks, mealworms and insects (their usual diet).
'Their diet is... well, they can eat anything,' he says. 'Dog food, Cat food, live worms, locusts, sausages, anything'.
Such sales spiel anger s Redmond, who says: 'The people who are in it for the money are often ignorant of everything: the right way to keep them and their dietary needs. I can't remember a single pet shop telling me Meerkats need fruit in their diet.
'Keeping a Meerkat in captivity is never going to be good enough. There's never a way of keeping them that's as good and natural as when they're in the wild'.
The problem is that there is no law against keeping Meerkats. Owners do have a 'duty of care' to their pets and have to meet their ' behavioural and social needs' - or face prosecution under the 2006 Animal Welfare Act.
But such rules are hard to enforce. You don't need a licence to keep or breed them, so the number of Meerkats being kept as pets is impossible to estimate.
The majority are sold by unlicensed breeders, although exotic pet shops often act as middle men and offer to 'track one down' for you.
When I spoke to Danny at Manchester Pets and Aquatics he told me they had none in stock but said he could order one for a 'good price'.
The only shop I contacted that would only sell them in pairs ('because they can't be left on their own') was New World exotics in Beeston.
But even that wasn't good enough for Craig Redmond who said: ' They' re hardwired physically to live in colonies of ten, 12, even 30 - so living in pairs just isn't big enough.'
He adds: 'It's hard to be surprised by the numbers being sold. I visited one breeder in Leeds, a decent-looking couple in their forties living in a detached new-build on a nice estate'.
Right there in the hallway, they had five Meerkat babies locked up in a small Parrot cage, separated from their adults and the female adult was already pregnant again.
'She and the male were so wild, they were shut up in a tiled conservatory with nowhere to dig and absolutely no way of going outside'.
'Can you imagine caging them up like that? You have to ask yourself why would you be so cruel as to try to tame something that is innately hardwired to be wild?'
One need look no further than lonely little Simples, scrabbling vainly at the floor of his cage, to agree.
So this was, more or less, the situation last year. Let's hope that Meerkats can live in their own territory, and nowhere else.

...They can't live here in any way

"Garden For Just One Flower"
Only for all Meerkat Manor lovers... For here, we all accept Flower as our Queen and Mother in common (if anyone doesn't agree, just go to another blog / site). Well, this is what I wanted to leave here this time, having let the words flow instead of thinking them, so that you could read a new...
...Possible message from Flower.
"Dear children: It's been four years since you and me could see one another (through the heart, in my case). But no matter how much time may pass, if with this we can strenghten our little bond along with the feeling of belonging each other. There's something about my death that maybe you haven't thought yet. I wasn't happy or proud in those hard and painful moments just for having fought for my people. I felt happy dying at the very entrance of my burrow. And anyway, dear children, you already know this very well: The flower doesn't live who can't leave her own future afterlife. So, whenever you see a dying flower, just smile as if I was there, because I can be right there, ready to bring myself back, somewhere, somehow".

"Castle In The Desert"
Zaphod, in one
of his latest pictures...
Like a baby, so sweetly;
And stay there as if standing proud. Like the King he still is.
But what can be the King dreaming in that picture?
Well, what else, but himself flying on a Golden Scorpion?

"Very Special - Khristmas"
Meerkats... They're the new
and brightest stars during Christmas!!!
They almost seem to have been born
to celebrate this date, or remind us to do it.
First, they save their best songs for that day...
Then they wait for the Three Meerkat Kings...

And, of course, they're ready to say thanks,
like a very little prayer in their hearts!

"Mozart Relief And Happiness"
Oh, I almost forget this day... That little Princess was born in the first week of November along with other three Meerkats. Now this little song is for her; the music should be one of another song whose bottom line says "A circle complete... The graves of love" (I don't know the name).
Mozart, if you could be born again, what you would do?
Will all that sorrows be left behind, like traveled roads?
And if you can find that Knight always dreamed,
will all your children grow up without hate?
You had lived to suffer...
Those days are forever gone.
A great and ill fate always waited for you,
while arrows of sadness would follow your steps.
But nothing of that ever will reach your heart...
You'll come with a shield made of silver hope stars.
And when you're there, looking all the world around,
your children will make a tale of joy.
Mozart, if someday you live again under that Sun,
I hope he'll watch over you this time, between the sands.
And if a danger that comes from the sky
is going to take all you've gained by own right,
may even the Sun light
protect all your most loved ones.
And when you're there, in the place of Queen at last
that crown will make all your dreams come true.

"Very, Very Special"
The Meerkat and the weird Cat:
Lion cub makes
an unlikely new best friend
Last updated at 12:41 PM on 18th September 2010
It could be straight out of Disney hit The Lion King but this Lion cub and meerkat cuddling up to each other is real. Meet the real-life Simba and Timon.
The loveable duo have been best chums since new-born Lioness Zinzi was rescued by being taken into the home of zoo and safari ranch owner Marcell Tournier, 33, after the mother rejected her.
Just like cartoon character Simba -the Lion cub hero of Disney classic The Lion King- young Zinzi was also separated from her family and incredibly formed and bond with a wandering Meerkat.
In another incredible real-life parallel, Meerkat Bob acts like the movie character Timon as a drifter. The cheeky critter only comes to Marcell's when he feels like it and enjoys free meals.

Pictures show how the pair were inseparable from the beginning and are still good pals today- despite rapidly-growing Zinzi, now six months old, now vastly out-sizing her cheeky chum.
And there's nothing they like better than Lion around together in South Africa's summer heat.
Marcell added: 'Bob seems to have a "Hakuna Matata" problem-free philosophy and taught Zinzi how to relax'.
Zinzi was brought in at just one day old when Marcell realised her mother was refusing to feed her- a harsh reality of nature that could have meant the end of adorable Zinzi.
But almost as soon as the Lion had moved in to the home, near Sun City, South Africa, Marcell quickly realised he wasn't Zinzi's only fan.
Lively two-year-old Meerkat instantly took a shine to his new playmate.
Amazingly Bob began following his much bigger friend day and night and would even snuggle in at nap time.

'Bob likes having anything cute and cuddly around,' said Marcell. 'If it'll lie down and cuddle him he will love it'. The pair quickly formed an unlikely friendship and were soon doing everything together.
Marcell said: 'They play together, eat together and drink together. Whatever Zinzi was having in those first few days and weeks Bob would have as well'.
Bob is a celebrity face around the zoo, with some visitors coming back five or six times to see him again and again.
'Meerkats can be very aggressive but he's really cool', said Marcell. 'He's got loads of friends around here who he goes and sees every day. He plays with the Hyenas and other animals and they don't mind him.
'He pretty much runs the whole farm', he joked.
Bob's runs the sprawling Predator World Zoo and Game Farm, which covers 1,000 hectares in the country's north-west.
It is home to over 36 species of animal including Leopards, Cheetahs, Hyenas, Snakes and Birds.

“Tosca & Daisy Relief And Happiness”
Having seen that there wasn't almost anything about Tosca Whiskers, yesterday I wanted to write this for her, and with luck or help, I finished it today.
If we ever could cross our way,
I'd be there just to hear your words;
and you could tell of your life the whole day
like sad songs of ancient cords.
And if suddenly tears
start to fall from your eyes
I won't tell you 'no, don't cry',
'cause you'll know for yourself
that when big sorrows shine
they make all your sadness disappear.
So don't hold them,
they'll take all your sorrows away
and you'll have wings
that take you to Heavens of joy.
If you, little girl, could see me some day
just as you were born that time,
I would always let your little hands stay
like birds in the nest of mine.
Dear Tosca, your name will mean always so much
to millions of following friends;
and though you never enjoyed your crown,
you lived like a very true Queen.
So remember,
some crowns are for no one to see
while they shine there
like the Sun of the dawn in your head.

"Very Special"
After more than a month, I found this little information to update my Meerkats Blog, at last. This is a game made for all who watched Meerkat Manor, and now miss them so much... The show as much as the family starring MM.
In Lead the Meerkats you are a young Meerkat and you have a lot to accomplish. You have been separated from your pack and the time has come for you to form your own Meerkat pack. Are you ready for the challenge? Name your pack and its Meerkats. Dig burrow networks and enlarge your territory. Forage for food and grow your pack size. Stay on guard and be ready to make quick decisions. Run to the safety of the burrows or fight your enemies. Go head to head with a rival Meerkat pack. Lead your pack to victory and rule the Savanna. Lead the Meerkat is the first game to simulate the exciting life of Meerkats. Lead your pack and enjoy the company of these lively and endearing animals. Lead the Meerkats offers a fun gameplay experience for animal lovers of all ages.

You are a young Meerkat and you have a huge task ahead. You used to live a happy and peaceful life with your pack at the lush and green savanna but one stormy night everything changed. A rival Meerkat pack came from the desert and attacked your pack's burrows. You fleed in terror and got separated from the rest of your pack. In the darkness you stumbled to a river and got dragged under the water. Next morning you woke up from the riverside. You had drifted to the other side of the river where the land is dry and the living conditions are much harder. To survive on the dangerous savanna you must set up your own Meerkat pack.

Game takes place at the African Savanna. Game world is a part of Savanna that is surrounded by deserts and mountains. A river runs through the Savanna and divides it to two distinct parts. Western part is rocky and dry area. Eastern part is lush and green area. The game starts from the southernmost part of the dry side.

"Garden For Just One Flower"

Birth
Flower was born on the 15th March in the year 2000. She was born in a group called the Whiskers, formed in 1998. Her mother was the dominant female of the Whiskers at that time, she was Holly, she was from the Young Ones origin. Her father was actually a roving male. He originated from a group called the Rascals. He was Kine. Her father was not the dominant male of the Whiskers, Argon. Flower's conception happened when Holly came into season after giving birth to her previous litter. Argon was not mate guarding her as intensively as dominant males normally always do. She mated with Kine and after seventy days (pregnancy for Meerkats), Flower was born. Flower was born in a litter of four pups. She was actually the smallest pup in the litter. She had three other litter-mates. These were her sister Petal, and her two brothers Thumper and Hazel. Her brother Thumper was the largest pup. Flower and her siblings were born during the time when the Whiskers numbered nineteen animals. Females included her mother Holly who was the dominant female for three years. Her older half sisters, Vialli, Zola, Aramis and Wahine. Her older cousins, Risca, Artemis and Aphrodite. Males included her step father Argon, his brother Delpheus, a wild male Beetle, her older half brothers Dennis Wise, Porthos, Athos, Rangi, Orgali, Tama. Her older cousins, Lancelot and Jean-Luc. Flower and her siblings spent their young lives under ground. The first of their family to meet was Risca (a yearling at that time) who curiously entered the birth chamber where Holly and the pups lay. Her mum Holly would go off foraging so her older female cousins or half sisters would often babysit Flower. When Flower reached the age of two weeks old, her cousin Lancelot was on babysitting duty when another group, the Lazuli first attacked the Whiskers burrow. The dominant female of the Lazuli, Ziziphus, almost killed Flower and her siblings but thanks to her cousin Lancelot who defended them, she survived. Flower reached the age of three weeks old and she was ready to emerge from the burrow for the first time.
Flower and her siblings were ready to head off foraging with the family at the age of four weeks old. The group foraged and at this age, all Flower had to do is beg for food. She was not expected to find her own food until the age of four months or more. She was brought food by the other Meerkats. The most generous of her elders was her half sister Vialli and cousin Risca. Her mother Holly, as the dominant female, didn't really contribute to bring food. As the they got older, Flower and her siblings went out foraging with the adults more often. As the Whiskers were moving fast, her sister Petal lagged behind. Petal calls reached her older half sister Vialli. Vialli went back for Petal until she heard the calls of another pup being lost: it was Flower. Vialli dropped Petal and went back for Flower. Once she got Flower and tried to return to Petal, Petal had already been in the talons of a Gosshawk. Vialli and Flower returned to the Whiskers. Although she lost her sister, at least she was safe. Flower and her brothers grew up more into juveniles. She did start finding food for herself and did not beg for food as much as she did as a pup. She started to take babysitting duties though she was still too young. She was about nine months old when her mother Holly gave birth to a new litter. That litter consisted of her younger sister Smithers.
Flower was an adult at the age of a year old. She now began to take babysitting duties and sentry duties. Eleven days after her the birth of her new younger siblings Smithers, Mr Burns and Montogomery, her mother Holly was taken by a Martial Eagle. Flower lost her mother on the 19th September 2000. Flower was still too young to take her mother's place as the dominant female, so her older cousin Risca took the position. The life for Flower and her brothers Thumper and Hazel did not change. Risca however was weak in terms of being able to control the breeding success of the other females. Most of the adult females mated with roving males. Her step father Argon and most of the males had left the group. Only Beetle stayed in the Whiskers and took the position of dominant male. Soon Beetle and some of the other males (including her brothers, Thumper and Hazel) left to go roving. A new group of eight Vivian males joined the Whiskers. Izit, one of the males, took the dominant male position in the Whiskers group. Risca still could not control the other females like a dominant female, like Holly, should and all above a year old (including Flower) mated with the new males. Risca, Vialli, Zola, Artemis, Aphrodite, Aramis and Wahine were all pregnant by the new males. Flower did not conceive. All the pregnant females, except her cousin Artemis, lost their litters to each other. Life in the Whiskers went. Some of the Whiskers males that left the group returned but were chased off by the Vivian males. That was the last interval where Flower saw her brothers Thumper and Hazel.
The Whiskers group dynamics were changing. Risca's grip on power weakened. She eventually lost dominance to Vialli. Risca, Wahine and most of the older subordinate females were evicted. Flower was now the second oldest female in the group. She and Vialli both mated with some of the new males. The former dominant Izit also lost his dominant position to his younger half brother Zaphod. Vialli often bullied Flower despite the fact that she cared for her as a pup. Both Flower and Vialli were pregnant. Flower was pregnant for the first time in her life. She was the first of the two to give birth, but Vialli killed her newborn pups as soon as they were born. Vialli then gave birth to her litter of seven pups.
Whiskers Queen
A few weeks after her pups started foraging, Vialli disappeared and was probably taken by a predator. Flower was the oldest female in the group and established her dominance over the other females (including her younger sister Smithers and her nieces Ugly Pup, Mi Julie and Rydapuni). She was now about two years old and for the first time in her life, she was the dominant female of the Whiskers. This was on the 7th February 2002.
Flower then began to take leadership of the group. Zaphod was still the dominant male and his relationship with Flower changed. When she was a subordinate female he had paid little attention towards her, but now being the dominant female, he seldom left her side. Vialli's pups made it to adulthood. Flower's breeding success was now increased as the dominant female. She was pregnant, but her nieces Mi Julie, Ugly Pup and her younger sister by nine months, Smithers, were also pregnant. Flower gave birth, but her litter was again, killed by another female, Mi Julie. Mi Julie gave birth but Smithers killed her litter. Smithers gave birth, but Ugly Pup killed her litter. Ugly Pup then had her litter which none of her pups made it to adulthood. Flower then began to evict some of her subordinate females. She evicted Smithers, Mi Julie, Ugly Pup and Rydapuni from the group. Flower conceived another litter again, and this time, there were no other pregnant subordinate females in the group which would threaten her pups' survival. That was when she gave birth to her very first surviving litter of three pups, Tosca, Stato and Skinner this was on the 18 / 08 / 2002. All her litter survived. This litter was fathered by Zaphod. After producing two litters, Flower came back into season and mated with a roving male from the Gattaca called Mr. Wendell Gattaca and gave birth to three pups. She produced litter after litter. As the dominant female, Flower had the right to breed exclusively for herself and would not allow any of her daughters to breed. Her two daughters Mozart and Baddiel both had litters of pups, but Flower allowed them to live. She did however attack and evict Mozart and Tosca from the Whiskers family. She then led a burrow move which forced her daughter Super Furry Animal (Daisy on Meerkat Manor) to abandon her pups and stay with her family. When the Whiskers split into two due to their large numbers (because Flower allowed Tosca and Mozart's litters to live), she led half of the family while her evicted daughter Tosca had enough nerve to return and take leadership of the splinter group. Soon the Whiskers were re-united. Flower was very furious with Tosca and banished her from the Whiskers for good. Flower was also a caring mother having produced over forty seven pups. Flower's breeding parner changed when Zaphod lost dominance to his litter-mate brother Yossarian, who became Flower's mate and fathered two of her litters before Zaphod deposed him. Flower ruled the Whiskers for five years.
Litters:
Flower gave birth to her first litter on August 18, 2002 to Baddiel, Stato and Skinner. The litter was fathered by Zaphod.
Flower gave birth to her second litter on November 8, 2002 to Einstein, Mozart, Shakespeare and Freud. The litter was fathered by Zaphod.
Flower gave birth to her third litter on January 24, 2003 to Cookie, Pookie and Sookie. The litter was fathered by Mr. Wendell.
Flower gave birth to her fourth litter on December 6, 2003 to Kinkajou, Rocket Dog, Ragga Muffin and Super Furry Animal. The litter was fathered by Yossarian.
Flower gave birth to her fifth litter on February 22, 2004 to Monkulus, Armanita Ditch, Pozzo, Lucky and Zarathustra. The litter was fathered by Yossarian.
Flower gave birth to her sixth litter on September 6, 2004 to Hawkeye, Logan, Mitch and Cruise. The litter was fathered by Zaphod.
Flower gave birth to her seventh litter on December 6, 2004 to Petra, Machu Pichu, Ningaloo and Popkat. The litter was fathered by Zaphod.
Flower gave birth to her eighth litter on February 22, 2005 to Kim, Flo and Finn. The litter was fathered by Zaphod.
Flower gave birth to her ninth litter on August 26, 2005 to Billy, Miles, Ella and Baker. The litter was fathered by Zaphod.
Flower gave birth to her tenth litter on November 11, 2005 to Bananas, Butch Cassidy, Sundance, Alonzo Mourning and Orinoco. The litter was fathered by Zaphod.
Flower gave birth to her eleventh litter on January 29, 2006 to Panthro, Cheetara and Wiley Kat. The litter was fathered by Zaphod.
Flower gave birth to her twelfth litter on September 2, 2006 to Suggs, Izzy and Busta. The litter was fathered by Zaphod.
Flower gave birth to her thirteenth litter on November 20, 2006 to VWM112 and VWM113 (Names unknown, it seems...). The litter was fathered by Zaphod.
Death
Flower had been in charge of the Whiskers family for five years. She was about seven years old. The Whiskers were returning from the days forage and Flower and the group came across a Cape Cobra near the babysitting burrow. The Whiskers managed to see it off but could not drive it away. The Cobra made its way into the Whiskers burrow. The Whiskers tried to mob it but without succession. Flower took it in herself went down below ground to confront the deadly intruder. She was given a fatal bit to the head. Her head swelled up from the venom bumping in her body to her head. Flower was weak and could not forage or join the others. She laid still near the burrow entrance until her last breath faded away. Flower sadly died. This was on the 16th January 2007.

In this way, I tried to honor the big Queen
and Mother Flower Whiskers...
I'm not sure, of course, of having succeeded in that.
